About Thanh Toan tile bridge
Thanh Toan tile bridge is located in Thuy Thanh commune, Huong Thuy district, Thua Thien Hue province which is located about 8 km from Hue city center.
This bridge crosses a narrow river at the end of Thanh Toan village. The village was established in the late 16th century, most of the village elders are Thanh Hoa people who followed Lord Nguyen Hoang here.
Later, Mrs. Tran Thi Dao – A nephew of the Tran family (about the 6th generation)donated money to the village to build this bridge. In 1990 the bridge was recognized as a national cultural relic.
How to get to Thanh Toan Bridge?
Located in the suburbs, Thanh Toan tile Bridge is about 8km southeast of Hue city center. Traffic is convenient, so you can come here by motorbike or taxi:
- Motorbike: This is the most popular means of transport in Vietnam to help you be more flexible in moving and sightseeing time. The rental price is about 100,000 – 180,000 VND/day.
- Taxi: With a group of 4 or more tourists, this is a safe and economical means of transport. Do not forget to ask the service price before getting on the taxi. Some reputable taxi companies in Hue such as Mai Linh taxi, Thanh Cong taxi…

Thanh Toan Bridge was built basing on The architecture style “house above bridge”. This term usually refers to wooden bridges with a roof over them. This is a very humane ancient architecture of the ancient Vietnamese, next to the bridge there is a house for passengers to stop and rest along the way.
The bridge is 18m long, 5m wide, divided into 7 main compartments. The roof is completely covered with glazed tiles. The bridge is designed with 2 wooden platforms with railings along both sides of the bridge so that visitors can sit and relax, watching the scenery and relaxing.
